Dominus, in clay (again)

this is actually the third Dominus figurine that I've made, but the second one, despite having a decent posing, looks rather thickset and everything blue on him turned yellow. I HATE GLAZING.

this is one of the most delicate figures I've made, being extremely thin and having long, unsupported features. he is also leaning back slightly, so he was falling backwards all the time during construction. and to my horror, part of his collar snapped off while I was glazing it. on the plus side, though, it made glazing his face at least ten times easier.
he was a sort of last-minute project I made, started a few weeks before the holiday breaks. so I made him a good deal smaller than usual, and left out some of his more difficult features, like his giant clawed arm and him wearing his hat. that said, I am actually pretty happy with this. the red didn't turn out on his brooch again, but it never does, so I'm pretty used to that. his eyes also somehow got outlined with white where the red and black meet, so that's weird but cool.

I really need to take before-and-after shots of these, a ton of detail that I put into his vest, face, etc got lost once it got covered in glaze. but that would require taking my mom's fancy camera to school, and taking it out in the ceramics room, which has the general air consistency of 50% air, 30% clay dust, 16% glaze fumes, and 4% tears of people who had their stuff vandalized. she might get slightly ticked off with the state it would be returned in.
